Steels for turning and milling

In the area of low-alloy steels, we offer you the most common structural steels, free-cutting steels, case-hardening steels and quenched and tempered steels for turning and milling. These are versatile materials with good mechanical properties and low price. At Spanflug Buy you can choose from eight different steels for CNC machining (milling and turning). Our overview will help you choose the ideal material for your turning and milling parts.

Heat and surface treatments for turning and milling steel parts

For our steels you can choose from a wide range of Heat and surface treatments such as hardening, nitriding, burnishing, galvanizing and chromium plating.

11SMnPb37
9SMnPb36

Material costs: €€€€

Manufacturing costs: €€€€

Tensile strength: 380 - 570 N/mm²

Hardness: 112 - 169 HB

11SMnPb37 is a free-cutting steel optimized for machining processes.

very good machinability

42CrMoS4

Material costs: €€€€

Manufacturing costs: €€€€

Tensile strength: 1000 - 1200 N/mm²

Hardness: 220 HB (19 HRC)
hardened: 455 HB( 48 HRC)

42CrMoS4 is an alloyed quenched and tempered steel. It is suitable for parts with higher mechanical stress than C45 and 16MnCrS5.

hardenable very high strength

C45

Material costs: €€€€€

Manufacturing costs: €€€€€

Tensile strength: 550 - 700 N/mm²

Hardness: 190 HB, 190HB (13 HRC)
hardened: 500 HB (58 HRC)

The material C45 is a non-alloyed quenched and tempered steel with a very uniform material structure. As a result, it offers high dimensional accuracy and strength.

hardenable wear-resistant

C60E
1.1221

Material costs: €€

Manufacturing costs: €€

Tensile strength: 800 - 950 N/mm²

Hardness: 270 HB(28 HRC)
hardened: 642 HB(61 HRC)

C60E is an unalloyed quenched and tempered steel characterized by high strength combined with good toughness in the quenched and tempered condition.

hardenable wear-resistant

S235JR
St 37

Material costs: €€€€

Manufacturing costs: €€€€€€

Tensile strength: 350 - 500 N/mm²

Hardness: 102 - 140 HB

S235JR is an unalloyed structural steel and is the most widely used steel grade in the world. It is characterized by its versatility, good machinability and good welding properties.

well weldable

S355JR
St 52

Material costs: €€€€

Manufacturing costs: €€€€€

Tensile strength: 470 - 630 N/mm²

Hardness: 146 - 180 HB

S355JR is an unalloyed structural steel with better mechanical properties than S235JR. Due to the higher material quality, we recommend the use of S355JR for turned and milled parts over S235JR.
