Spanflug Technologies presents the calculation software "Spanflug for Manufacturers" at GrindingHub, the new trade fair for grinding technology (May 17-20, Stuttgart). With this algorithm, users can evaluate turning and milling parts in terms of their manufacturability in just a few seconds and thus calculate a quotation price. In Stuttgart, the company is celebrating a premiere with a new feature: the software now also automatically calculates efforts for grinding.
"Spanflug for Manufacturers" is based on a pricing algorithm that Spanflug has been using since 2018 for its online platform for the procurement of CNC turning and milling parts and has optimized using more than 300,000 turned and milled parts. The costing software automatically evaluates manufacturing-relevant features from CAD models and technical drawings and calculates manufacturing times and quotation prices. In addition, the user receives a detailed breakdown of the calculated costs for material, setup, programming, manufacturing and shipping.
With the latest version of the software, which will be presented for the first time at GrindingHub, users can now also automatically calculate turning and milling parts with grinding. The effort for external cylindrical and surface grinding is taken into account in the calculation. With this new feature, Spanflug responds to the high demand from customers. Grinding is often used for turning and milling parts with very high demands on surface quality and dimensional accuracy. This can be the case, for example, with bearing seats, shafts, guides or even precision plates.
If a corresponding surface quality or dimensional tolerance is stored in the drawing, the software automatically recognizes the component as a grinding part. The user only has to select the surfaces to be machined in the 3D viewer. Settings such as cutting values or whether a dedicated grinding center is used can be customized. Spanflug is available at the GrindingHub at the StartupHub in Hall 10, Booth 10D64 .
